Tying the Belt Properly

Each student must take pride in their appearance;
a properly tied belt shows self-respect.
Belts must be tied by the student (or parent)
properly before class, and to advance to the next rank.

Belt Tying for New Students

1. Find the center of the belt by folding it in half.
2. Place the center of the belt in front of the body at navel level.
3. Wrap the right side of the belt all the way around the body, then the left side around the body overlapping the belt so there is no twist in the back.
4. Take the end of the left side and loop under both pieces (next to the uniform, close to the body) to hold securely.
5. Take the right side in the right hand and flip downward. Take the left side in the left hand.
6. Put the left side over the right side, making a loop.
7. Reach through the loop by grabbing the left side and pull tight.
