Taikyoku form #1: Taikyoku Shodan


Taikyoku Shodan: Basic Version for White Belts

 
 
Salutations to instructor:
 
Face North-feet together-hands to side-bow
Step into ready stance by sliding left leg out so feet are shoulder width apart
-Low double punch

1.

Turn head left 45° facing Northwest corner.
Turn to the Northwest into front stance, pivoting feet 45
° from North centerline into front stance

-Low strike left arm

2.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance (still Northwest)

-Center punch right arm

3.

Turn head right to opposite 45° to Northeast corner. Slide right foot 45° into front stance to Northeast corner

-Low strike right arm

4.

Crescent step left foot forward into front stance (still Northeast)

-Center punch left arm

5.

Slide left foot to center line facing North

-Low strike left arm

6.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance (still facing North)

-Center punch right arm

7.

Crescent step left foot forward into front stance (still facing North)

-Center punch left arm

8.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance (still facing North)

-Lunge center punch, right arm-KIAI

9.

Look over back shoulder to Southeast, pivot left leg to Southeast corner into front stance

-Low strike left arm

10.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance facing Southeast

-Center punch right arm

11.

Turn head to Southwest corner. Pivot right foot 45° to Southwest into front stance (right leg forward facing Southwest)

12.

Crescent step left foot forward into front stance (still facing Southwest)

-Center punch left arm

13.

Slide left foot to center line facing South

-Low strike left arm

14.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance (still facing South)

-Center punch right arm

15.

Crescent step left foot forward into front stance (still facing South)

-Center punch left arm

16.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance (still facing South)

-Lunge, center punch right arm- KIAI

17.

Look over back shoulder to Northwest, pivot left leg to Northwest corner into front stance

-Low strike left arm

18.

Crescent step right foot forward into front stance (still facing Northwest)

-Center punch right arm

19.

Turn head right to opposite 45° to Northeast corner. Slide right foot 45° into front stance to Northeast corner

-Low strike right arm

20.

Crescent step left foot forward into front stance (still Northeast)

-Center punch left arm

Step back into ready stance-feet together-hands to side-bow
